Based on an thorough physical examination and testing, your Temple pulmonologist will consult with other Temple specialists as needed to confirm the diagnosis (see Conditions), consider other factors (such as coexisting conditions, your age, special risks, and your preferences), and then meet with you to discuss a customized treatment plan aimed at maximizing your respiratory potential and improving your overall quality of life. The Temple team will also communicate with your own primary care physician and other specialists to make sure all your health care providers are fully aware of your current health status. General descriptions of the most common treatment options are described in this section, but you should be aware that every patient may have special considerations or preferences that will shape the final plan. You need to understand the potential risks and benefits of any treatments proposed. You can say yes or no to any treatments and your doctor will describe the alternatives.
